Reciprocal Teaching – RT3T™ Kaupapa Animation

This animation was created for the RTeach Institute, “Reciprocal Teaching – RT3T™ Kaupapa”

Also in Te Reo Māori, it explains the Kaupapa of the teaching method RT3T through the Rākau Kōrero, otherwise known as a talking stick.

Being presented at a Ngāi Tahu Marae in March 2023, as part of the ongoing efforts to ensure Aotearoa New Zealand teaching tools are evidence-based, culturally responsive, and socially just.

I really enjoyed this project – developing the colour palette, creating characters, and native NZ animals, as well as coming up with creative storytelling to explain teaching concepts in an imaginative way!

Here are some of the skillsets needed to create this animation

  • Script and Visual Concept development
  • Sketching Thumbnails and Storyboards
  • Character Design
  • Color palette and visual style
  • Illustration
  • Animation production

Reciprocal Teaching – RT3T™ Student Talk

This animation was created for the RTeach Institute, “Student Talk”

Students were interviewed about their leadership skills and what their parents would think if they saw them leading a group in Reciprocal Teaching.

This animation involved creating characters (although the identity of students was protected and not a true likeness in any way, shape or form) as well as animating facial movements, in particular mouths to create this animated video.
