Graphic Medicine Comic

This comic explains how glucose is converted to energy in the body, but can be stopped in its tracks by insulin resistance!

This comic project was to explain a scenario of hyperglycaemia, insulin resistance and glucose in the human body in a fun and engaging way.

I researched what certain elements looked like and developed characters for them. I wanted the characters to be able to display their emotions and expressions, which in turn would help to explain the potential causes for hyperglycaemia.

In this comic, Glucose Molecule Steve is a new addition in the human body, and excited about the prospects of getting his dream job and fulfilling his dream of being converted into energy. His top three places are the liver, the kidneys and the brain!

Insulin molecule Meg knows the importance of her job. If she didn’t exist, chaos would happen in the human body.

Unfortunately for Steve, his dream of being converted into energy is not going smoothly. Insulin Resistance Romy is complicating everything!
